Alpina are masters in the production of extreme sports watches. Making their own movement calibres at their premises in Plan-Les-Quates, Geneva, they control the whole manufacturing process from start to finish. Founded in 1883 by Gottlieb Hauser under the name the Alpina Union Horlogere, the brand has become  synonymous with timepieces created using only the best quality movements.

In 1938 the brand launched the Alpina 4. This was a ground-breaking development for the company. Developed as a sports watch, it overcame the 4 most prolific watchmaking challenges – shock resistance, anti-magnetic, water resistant and with a stainless steel, robust case. The Alpina 4 became the standard for all active sports watches. In 1953, the President 584 Hammerautomatik was launched. It was the company’s first Sports Automatic watch with 17 jewel, self-winding movement.

Today, collection highlights include the Worldtimer Manufacture, with time zone indication and day/night indicator and the Yacht Timer. The Yacht Timer provides an accurate 5 and 10 minute count down before the start of a race. The current collection is divided into 5 sections; Land, Air, Sea, Ladies and Smart Watches.
